The LCT3 production of Kirsten Greenidge’s Luck of the Irish officially opens at Lincoln Center Theater’s Claire Tow Theater on February 11. Starring Eisa Davis and directed by Rebecca Taichman, Luck of the Irish runs through March 10.
Luck of the Irish tackles racial and social issues in two different American eras. When an upwardly mobile African-American couple wants to buy a home in an all-white neighborhood in 1950s Boston, they pay a struggling Irish family to “ghost-buy” a house on their behalf. Fifty years later, the Irish family wants “their” house back.
In addition to Davis, the 10-person ensemble stars Marsha Stephanie Blake (Hurt Village), Amanda Quaid (Cock), Dashiell Eaves (The Lieutenant of Inishmore), Carra Patterson (Wit), Frank Harts (A Raisin in the Sun), Victor Williams (A Small Fire), Jenny O’Hara (Promises, Promises) and Robert Hogan (Blood and Gifts).
Luck of the Irish features set design by Mimi Lien, costume design by Oana Botez, lighting design by Justin Townsend and sound design by Matt Tierney.
